50-year-old man dies in bicycle / camper van collision on Sunday morning 

A 50-year-old man died this morning after his bicycle was in a collision with a camper van this morning just before midday on the N18 near Bunratty — details of the driver were not released except to say there was no other person injured.

Damian Hogan of the Garda press office said: “Gardaí at Shannon, Co. Clare are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at approximately 11.45am this morning Sunday 26th March, 2017 on the N18 main Limerick to Galway Road near Bunratty.”

He added: “A 50-year-old male pedal cyclist was fatally injured when he was in collision with a camper van. His body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick. No other persons were injured in this incident.”

“The stretch of road is closed to facilitate a Garda Forensic Collision Examination.”

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact Shannon Garda Station on 061 365900, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
