Irish Cycle Facility of the Week

This is a personal favourite ours — it’s on our commute. It highlights the high quality infrastructure paid for in the last few years by the Department of Transport without any wasteful oversight on quality.

The narrow width and location of the cycle lane in a 60km/h zone leading into an 80km/h road are both ruled out by the National Cycle Manual. But luckily for local cyclists, the manual’s rules still don’t apply outside the Greater Dublin Area. So cyclists are not deprived of the fun experience of a design which puts them right beside trucks and cars traveling at 60km/h and, sometimes, well above that.

...That's the end of the article. Keep scrolling if you want to the comments, but IrishCycle.com *NEEDS* readers like you to keep it that way. It only requires a small percentage of readers to give a bit each month or every year to keep IrishCycle.com's journalism open to all. Thank you.
