Irish Cycle Facility of the Week

April 6, 2015

There seems to be a motorists blocking cycle lane problem here. Trust us, this isn’t a one-off, it’s the norm at rush hour and at many other hours.

The red highlighting surface no longer matching the cycle lane markings does not help, but we’re not sure fixing that would solve the main issue.

...That's the end of the article. Keep scrolling if you want to the comments, but IrishCycle.com *NEEDS* readers like you to keep it that way. It only requires a small percentage of readers to give a bit each month or every year to keep IrishCycle.com's journalism open to all. Thank you.

  1. This junction is incredibly badly laid out – most north- and southbound traffic uses the bike lane as a queue for the two tiny left turn filters that only exist for a couple of car lengths before the junction. It’s best approached during rush-hour gridlock when vehicles are stationary.

  2. The bus stops should be moved to Abbey street or Marlborough street. Thati’ll free up a lane for traffic turning left , have the cycle lane(segregated) in the middle and straight on traffic to the right of it.
