A man in his 20s was arrested today by Gardai in Clontarf who are investigating a fatal hit-and-run at the junction of Clontarf Road and Howth Road on June 30.
A 62-year-old man cycling a bicycle was knocked down in the collision and died shortly afterwards. He was named locally as Eugene Maher from Whitehall.
The man who was arrested earlier today in connection with the collision was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Clontarf Garda Station. He was released tonight without charge and Gardai said that they are preparing a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The Garda press office said: “Investigating Gardaí would like to thank those who have come forward and assisted them with their investigation to date, and are continuing to appeal for witnesses to contact the incident room.”
