Woman in her 30s dies after her bicycle hits a ditch in Co Kerry

A woman cycling on the Dingle to Tralee Road has died after her bicycle left the road at hit a ditch while cycling down the Conor Pass on Sunday morning at around 10.40am, Gardai said. The woman is understood to be a German tourist.

In a statement which described the collision as a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision, the Garda press office said: “A female cyclist in her mid 30s was pronounced dead at the scene when the bicycle she was cycling left the road and hit a ditch. Her body has been removed to University Hospital Tralee and the road has since reopened.”

It added: “Gardaí are appealing for any persons who may have witnessed the collision or who can assist them to contact Dingle Garda station on 066-9151522, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 or any Garda Station.”
