Man in his 30s dies in hospital after car/bicycle collision in Dublin

A man has died in hospital after he was involved in a collision with a motorist in a car this afternoon on the Conyngham Road in Dublin.

Margaret Flanagan of the Garda press office said: “Gardaí in Kilmainham are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred between a motor car and a pedal cyclist this afternoon Sunday, 12th March, 2017.”

She added:A male, in his 30s, pedal cyclist was seriously injured on Conyngham Road, Dublin 8 at approximately 2.15pm. He was taken to St. James Hospital where he later passed away and a post mortem will take place. The female driver, in her 40s, received minor injuries.”

The statement issued at 5.38 said that thee scene of the collision on Conyngham Road is currently closed as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are at scene and that road diversions are in place.

Gardaí in Kilmainham are seeking the assistance of any members of the public who travelled this road and who may be able to offer any further information or witnessed the collision to contact them at 01 – 6669700, The Garda Confidential Line 1 800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

  1. This is terribly sorry to hear another Cyclist dies in a RTC with a Car . Unfortunately I cannot comment because I dont know the details, perhaps we will find out some time in the future. My extreme Condoleances to the Family concerned.
