Man cycling dies in collision with car driver in Donegal

A man in his 40s who was cycling was killed in a collision with a driver of a car this afternoon in a rural area of Co Donegal.

The collision happened on the Magheroarty to Ardsbeg Road near the village of Gortahork in West Donegal.

Gardai said that the collision occurred at Ards Beg, Gortahork this afternoon at around 4pm.

The Garda press office said: “A male cyclist in his 40s was fatally injured when he was involved in a collision with a car. The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to Letterkenny Hospital. The driver of the car was uninjured.”

A garda spokesman added: “This stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.”

According to reports, another cyclist was also taken to Letterkenny University Hospital. Their condition is not yet known.
