Cycling groups put out “urgent call to action” on South Dublin Quietway

Cycling groups have put out an urgent call of action for members of the public to lobby councillors ahead of a meeting this afternoon which will discuss the South Dublin Quietway.

This follows IrishCycle.com reporting on Saturday night that Dublin’s South East area councillors are getting lobbied heavily by objectors to the South Dublin Quietway walking and cycling route ahead of a local area committee meeting on Monday afternoon.

I Bike Dublin tweeted: “URGENT CALL TO ACTION: @DubCityCouncil’s South East Area Committee will vote on the Kimmage-Donnybrook Quietway tomorrow afternoon. We need you to contact your councillors as there’s a real risk that it won’t be passed. Find out more here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1x9KOnfD1ja-yylO9PCbK6t6XbqznLuhUR25OMdvvVfY/mobilebasic.”

...That's the end of the article. Keep scrolling if you want to the comments, but IrishCycle.com *NEEDS* readers like you to keep it that way. It only requires a small percentage of readers to give a bit each month or every year to keep IrishCycle.com's journalism open to all. Thank you.

  1. I live just off Neagh Road and use this route already for my commute. I’ve sent emails to all my local councillors this morning, following up on previous emails. I’m not overly optimistic this will get through though. Possibly it would have more chance if it was introduced as a trial for three months using reversible infrastructure like large planters etc. I think once implemented, the benefits would be so obvious that much of the negativity would evaporate.
