39-year-old man serious assaulted by car occupants after collision in Dublin

A number a men exited a car and assaulted a man who had been cycling after the car collided with the man’s bicycle this morning, according to Gardai.

Gardai based in Raheny are investigating the serious assault and are appealing for witnesses or dash camera footage.

Damian Hogan at the Garda press office said: “At approximately 10.30am this morning, Saturday April 20 a 39-year-old male cyclist was cycling on Swans Nest Road, Kilbarrack, Dublin 5 when a car, described as a black saloon collided with him. A number of men then got out of the car and assaulted the injured man with weapons — not known what type [of weapons] — the men then left the scene in this car.”

The injured man was taken to Beaumont Hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening, Gardai said.

“Gardaí are appealing for any person who witnessed the incident or with information to contact Raheny Garda station on 01-6664300, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111. Gardaí are further seeking any drivers of vehicles or cyclists with dash cam footage who were in the Kilbarrack area at this time to check their dash cams footage and contact Raheny Garda station.”
