Hit-and-run driver leaves Dublin man with serious injuries

A 28 year-old man cycling on Parkgate Street / Conyngham Road was left seriously injured by a hit and run driver at 2am in the morning of the Bank Holiday on Monday last.

Parkgate Street and the start of Conyngham Road is part of the long-delayed Liffey Cycle Route.

Celine Ross at the Garda press office said: “Gardaí in Kilmainham are appealing for witnesses following a collision involving a pedal cyclist and a vehicle, on Conyngham Road, Dublin 8 on the 5th May 2019.

Gardai said that the collision occurred at around 2am on Parkgate St outbound towards Conyngham Road. Ross said: “The driver failed to remain at scene and continued in the direction of Islandbridge.”

“A 28 year-old man was taken by ambulance to The Mater Hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries.”

“Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them. Anyone who travelled along Conyngham Road on the 5th May 2019 between 1.50am and 2.20am to contact Gardaí.”
