Cyclovia in Limerick and ‘car free day’ for College Green and Malahide this Sunday

European Mobility Week will end this Sunday with car free events in locations such as College Green, Malahide and a Cyclovia in Limerick.

Today (Friday) Dún Laoghaire County Council is to host a 6km lunch time cycle to Dalkey and back along the Metal’s greenway. The council said there is a refreshment break during the cycle.

On Sunday, Limerick City and County Council in partnership with Limerick Cycling Campaign is to host a Cyclovia event:

On Sunday, College Green will go car free from 12pm to 4pm. Dublin City Council said: “The theme of this year’s European Mobility Week is ‘Safe Walking and Cycling’, which focuses on the importance of walking and cycling and the positive impacts they can have on our health, our bank balance and our environment. This is a free event for the whole family with lots of fun activities, including e-bike and cargo bike demos, Spokeswoman cycle tour, and a live BMX stunt show.”

Fingal County Council said: “As part of European Mobility Week, Enjoy Malahide are delighted to announce that Fingal County Council is holding a ‘Car Free Day’ in Malahide on Sunday, September 22. New Street area will be closed to traffic from 10am – 2pm (exceptions for buses, PSV’s, emergency vehicles and local access) to allow pedestrians and cyclists move freely in the vicinity for the morning.”

The council added: “Staff from the Road Safety Section in Fingal will also be present, along with face painters, balloon modellers, glitter tattoo artist, magician and other street entertainment. It would be great to have your support on the day.”

  1. ??? Why did DLR Council host a cycle to Dalkey and back on the same day as the #ClimateStrike? What time is/was it on at, and how come we did not get told about it? And, surely an event like this should happen at a weekend when families could attend?
