Getting EU funding usually requires match funding by local authorities or other agencies in member states. But, in any case, the allocation for Ireland seems to be zero or close to zero. Did any Irish authorities or agencies even apply?

  1. Interestingly in 2017, Donegal County Council was a partner in an INTERREG application with Derry City & Strabane District Council. As the application was made by Derry on behalf of the two councils, it gives the impression that DCC wasn’t involved nor did they apply for funding. However, over 8million of funding will be spent within Donegal on cycling and walking infrastructure by 2022 – all EU funding.
