“Nobody should need to die here to see action” says Cork cycling campaigner

— Video clip shows motorists entering contra-flow cycle lane at speed with little visibility of what’s ahead.

A leading cycling campaigner in Cork has pleaded with Cork City Council to act on segregating cycle route, especially sections of contra-flow cycle routes which the city has left exposed.

When posting the video of South Main Street in Cork on Twitter, Conn Donovan, chairperson of the Cork Cycling Campaign said: “Cars and vans driving into a contra flow cycle lane with no vision of what’s coming against them.”

He said: “I hope @corkcitycouncil move quickly to protect the cycle lane like their colleagues in various Dublin local authorities have.”

Donovan added: “Nobody should need to die here to see action.”
