Man in his 40s critically injured in collision between truck and bicycle

A man in his 40s is described as in a “critically” condition in hospital after a collision between his bicycle and a driver’s truck around lunchtime today.

The Garda press office said: “Gardaí are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision involving a lorry and a cyclist that occurred at approximately 2pm on Thursday, 27th August, 2020, on the Station Road near the junction with Crag Avenue in Clondalkin, Dublin 22.”

The press office continued: “The cyclist, a man aged in his early 40s, was taken to Tallaght Hospital where his condition is currently described as critical. The driver of the lorry was uninjured.”

“Forensic Collision Investigators are currently examining the scene and the road is closed. Local diversions are in place,” they said.

A statement from the Gardai added: “Gardaí at Ronanstown are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at this time to make the footage available to Gardaí.”
