Teenager arrested after hit-and-run which killed Thiago Cortes

A teenager was arrested today by Gardai in relation to the hit-and-run which killed Thiago Cortes, who was cycling at the time of the fatal collision, on August 31.

Thiago (pictured), who was from Brazil, was cycling delivering food for Deliveroo at the time of the collision.

The Garda press office said: “Today, Friday 6th November 2020, Gardaí arrested a male (aged in his teens) in relation to a fatal road traffic collision that occurred in the North Wall Quay area of Dublin City on the 31st August 2020.”

The Garda statement added: “He is currently detained in Store Street Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. Investigations are ongoing.”
