IMAGES: Progress on constructing cross-border walking and cycle route

Brexit isn’t stopping progress on a shared walking and cycling route between Strabane in County Tyrone in Northern Ireland and Lifford in County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland.

Images below show progress on the 3.5km route between Lifford to Strabane project which is route 3 of the North West Greenway Network.

It is part of a wider North West Greenway Network project planned by Derry City and Strabane District Council and Donegal County Council which is intended to span 46.5km of cross-border greenways, which will also include routes between Derry to Buncrana and Derry city centre to Muff in County Donegal.

The project is part-funded under the EU’s INTERREG VA Programme.

At the time of its planning Donegal County Council and Derry City and Strabane District Council said that the planed shared looped cycle route will connect some of the key residential, commercial and civic centres in the two towns.
