Fresh consultation starts on Royal Canal Greenway in Dublin 15

Non-statutory public consultation on the Royal Canal Greenway around Dublin 15, which will likely be the last section of towpath upgraded between the Dublin Docklands and the River Shannon in the midlands.

The Royal Canal Greenway is now open between Maynooth and Longford / Cloondara. At Mullingar the route links via the Old Rail Trail to Athlone where it is planned to eventually go onto Galway.

With the Dublin 15 section of the Royal Canal Greenway, Fingal County Council has just launched a new portal at fingal.ie/royalcanalurbangreenway.

Submissions can be made at consult.fingal.ie up to July 7 2021 at 23.59.

The consultation will also include two webinars, on June 1 and 8.

  1. Thanks for this info Cian. Looks like they are going for the clearly logical northern canal bank route. No doubt that will cause ructions amongst certain local groups, but it is by far the least expensive, most practical and best possible route, so it really is a no-brainer even for Fingal County Council.
