Witnesses sought after road rage incident on Dublin’s South Circular Road

Gardai are investigating and seeking witnesses to a road rage incident which happen shortly after 1pm on Friday June 18 on the South Circular Road in Dublin.

It is claimed that a man driving a white van verbally abused, threatened assault, and actually assaulted a man who was cycling a bicycle around lunchtime. The verbal abuse included anti-Semitic comments.

It is understood that the series of events happened on the South Circular Road around a 1km stretch between Dolphin’s Barn and Hybreasal House, west of St James Hospital.

A spokesperson at the Garda press office said: “Gardaí are investigating an incident involving a cyclist and van driver that occurred on the South Circular Road, Dublin 8 on Friday June 18, 2021. It’s alleged that a male cyclist 30s was assaulted in the course of an altercation with a van driver shortly after 1pm. His injuries are not described as serious.”

He added: “Anyone with information is asked to contact Kilmainham Garda Station on 01 6669700 or the Garda confidential Line 1800 666 111.”
