Man on bicycle dies in Co Cork collision

Gardaí have said that they are investigating a fatal collision, involving the death of a man in his 40s who was cycling, at approximately 6.20pm yesterday, Saturday, July 24, 2021.

Gardai are seeking witnesses or anybody who may have video footage to come forward.

“A male cyclist received treatment at the scene following the incident but he was later pronounced deceased. The body of the man, aged in his 40s, was taken Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem will now take place,” Garda press office said.

The scene remains closed this morning to allow for a technical examination, the statement from the Garda press office said.

The statement added: “Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information on this collision or anyone who may have video — including dash cam — footage to make this available to them. Gardaí can be contacted at Fermoy Garda Station on 025 82100 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.”

  1. Some reports are stating that a car was involved wheres others are saying that it was a single vehicle collision. The garda report does not say. It is more likely that a car was not involved and that the single vehicle was the bicycle.
