A new two-way cycle path is to be opened soon on North Road in the Phoenix Park, and traffic cones that have been in place on Chesterfield Avenue since shortly after the start of the pandemic in 2020 are being replaced by reflective-white bollards.
As recently reported, the bollards replacing the traffic cones on Chesterfield Avenue cycle track are an interim solution. The OPW, National Transport Authority and Dublin City Council are looking at a permanent solution for the park’s main avenue, which runs from the city centre side to Castleknock.
As part of two 9-month “pilot studies” North Road is to be made one-way with a two-way cycle path alongside the one-way section, and a modal filter is being implemented on the Upper Glen Road. The enabling works are on-going on North Road but, as shown below, look to be at an advanced stage.
