Skerries residents urged to take their bicycles to seek change tomorrow (Thursday) evening

NEWS IN BRIEF: Campaigners in the North Dublin seaside town of Skerries are looking for residents to join then for their School’s Out for Summer cycle round the town on Thursday evening.

In the call out, Skerries Cycling Initiative said: “Calling all Skerries Folks, get on yer bike and ride. Everybody is invited to join our School’s Out for Summer “Critical Mass” bike ride around the town this Thursday evening 30 June starting at 7.30pm from Skerries Mills carpark and finishing down at the harbour, about an hour later.”

“This will be be a gently paced cycle that can be done on a normal cycle in normal clothes and without the need for lycra shorts etc, the group said.

Skerries Cycling Initiative added: “The bike ride will be about 8 km long, with interesting informative stops to chat, and will be mainly out through estates and returning along the coast road with some loops within the town.”

The group said that children must be accompanied by an adult who will be responsible for them during the cycle.

  1. Hi, I’m cycling around the coast of Ireland and will be passing through Skerries next Wednesday 6th. I will have have cycled about 1800 miles by then having started in Killarney, all in aid of Pancreatic cancer and Alzheimer’s research. Sorry to miss this event, it’s a great idea, well done!!
