20-year-old knocked off bicycle in “critical condition” after collision involving truck driver

A man in 20s knocked was off the bicycle he was cycling and left in “critical condition” after collision involving truck driver in the south Dublin Port yesterday.

A spokesperson at the Garda Press Office said: “Gardaí investigating a serious road traffic collision involving a lorry and a bicycle that occurred at approximately 4pm on Wednesday, 9th November, 2022, on the South Bank Road at the junction with the Whitebank Road in Dublin 4, are appealing for witnesses.”

“The male cyclist, a man in his 20s, was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he is currently in a critical condition. No other injuries to persons was reported,” the spokesperson said.

The Garda Press Office said that the scene was preserved for an examination which Forensic Collision Investigators conducted.

“Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling on the South Bank Road or the Whitebank Road between 3:30pm and 4pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.”

Gardai said that anyone with information is asked to contact Irishtown Garda Station on 01 6669600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
