A man in his 60s who was cycling on Ticknock, Co Dublin, died yesterday after what Gardaí are describing as a single vehicle collision with no other road users involved. Bicycles are vehicles under Irish law.
A spokesperson at the Garda Press Office said: “Gardaí are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision involving a bicycle that occurred at approximately 2pm on Sunday 4th August 2024 on the Ticknock Road in Ticknock, Co Dublin.”
“The cyclist, a man in his 60s, was taken to St Vincent’s University Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A post-mortem examination will be conducted at a later date,” the spokesperson said.
Gardaí said that a technical examination of the scene on the Ticknock Road has been conducted and the road has re-opened to traffic.
The Garda spokesperson added: “Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Ticknock Road area between 1:45pm and 2pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Blackrock Garda Station on 01 6665200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
