Wexford County Council is asking the public for their views on route options on the Wexford to Rosslare Strand Greenway.
The project team said it is looking at recreational, commuter and tourism use of the route.
Public consultation on the route options will take place from today, August 7th, to September 11th.
It will include two in-person events where people can talk to the project team — the first is at the Talbot Hotel in Wexford town on Wednesday, August 14th, from 15.00 to 19.00, and the second is at the Rosslare Strand Community Centre on Thursday, August 15th, from 15.00 to 19.00.
It is proposed that the route starts at the Ferrybank Caravan and Camping Park on the north side of Wexford Bridge and go across the bridge, along the quayside, past the proposed new urban district at Trinity Wharf and onto Rosslare Strand beach car park.
The council said that the Preferred Option selected for the greenway “may comprise of a combination of any of the individual route options presented.” There are four options with possible connections between those options (see map below).
Details of the consultation were posted by Cllr Leonard Kelly on social media last night, and further details and how to reply to the consultation should be posted to the council’s consultation later today at consult.wexfordcoco.ie.
An outline of the project timeline does not indicate when the project team expects the greenway to be up and running.
It is expected that after this consultation, a landowner consultation will follow, and then an options report will be finalised this year. Later this year or next year, design and environmental evaluation work will become more focused in the lead-up to an application for planning permission in 2026.
