“Cycle for Freedom” to start in both Dún Laoghaire and Howth to meet national march in solidarity with Palestinian people on Saturday

A “Great Ride of Return, Cycle for Freedom Dublin” will start at 12 noon tomorrow on both the northside and southside of Dublin, meeting with the start of the march in solidarity with the Palestinian people in Dublin City Centre.

The main demonstration, the “National Demonstration for Palestine – End Israel’s War on Palestinian Children” which takes place at 1pm tomorrow from The Garden of Remembrance, is being organised by the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign and supported by a wide range of civic society groups, including civil rights groups, trade unions, student unions, anti-racism groups, and anti-war groups.

Regarding the group cycles to the march, the Irish Sport for Palestine group tweeted: “We will meet at 12 Noon—south side at Peoples Park Dún Laoghaire or north side at the East Pier in Howth, with both routes cycling to Quays (Liberty Hall) and joining the National Solidarity March.”

The group added: “All are welcome, the cycle is family friendly and accessible (circa 12-5Km at an easy pace).”

The Bike Hub in Dún Laoghaire are also encouraging people to drop in for a bike checkup before the cycle. They said: “If you are participating tomorrow, feel free to drop by our workshop in Dun Laoghaire for a quick check on your brakes or to pump up your tyres. We’re open from 11am to 5pm.”
