A man in his 60s who was found unresponsive in Tralee in the early hours of Sunday morning has died since Gardaí have confirmed.
An appeal for witnesses and anybody with footage to come forward has been made in the case.
A Garda spokesperson said: “It approximately 12:45 am, emergency services were alerted after a cyclist was found unresponsive on the roadside at Bracker O’Regan Road, Tralee. The cyclist, a man in his 60s, was riding an electric bike (e-bike) at the time of the incident.”
Gardaí said that the man was “conveyed to University Hospital Kerry after the incident and has now been pronounced deceased.”
A statement said that the local coroner has been notified, and arrangements will now be made for a post-mortem examination.
The Garda Press Office said: “Gardaí are appealing for any persons that were travelling or provided assistance to the cyclist on Caherslee Road & Bracker O’Regan Road, Tralee, between 12:20 am and 12:50 am on Sunday morning the 20th of October, including persons with dash-cam and mobile phone footage, to come forward.”
