Watch: Work progresses on Stillorgan Park Road Walking and Cycle project

Work is progressing on Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council’s Stillorgan Park Road Walking and Cycle Improvement Scheme.

The video shows the work as it was when the video was taken last week during the midterm break.

It shows most of the ~1km project, which stretches from the two-way cycle path on Carysfort Avenue to the N11, is almost finished. The project also links to the underpass under the N11 from Patrician Villas and Laurence’s Park and over towards the Stillorgan Village shopping centre.

After Street View surveyed the area in September, some before and after visuals can be found along part of the route on Google Maps — it includes largely segregating pedestrians and people cycling when users were previously mixed on shared paths or paths with just a pained line.

This is roughly the same location with different angles due to the Street View car being on a different side of the road:

In some locations, the new cycle path uses the old concrete kerb which was in place. Note in the second image how the concrete changes colour closer to the junction — that’s new concrete while the council reused the existing kerb in the foreground:

While, in other locations, spaces were reallocated from the carriageway. For example, these images are from a location where the turning lane was removed to be able to fit a segregated cycle path without

This is the video of the work in progress:

While the video westbound ends before the junction with the N11, the section of the project at the junction is mostly finished — this is around the same spot in September and again last week:
