Gardaí are seeking witnesses and camera footage after what they described as a serious injury road traffic incident in Co Mayo today.
A spokesperson at the Garda Press Office said: “The incident happened on the [N17] road between the airport and Charlestown. A cyclist, aged in his 60s, was found with life-threatening injuries at around 12:20pm, and was brought by ambulance to hospital.”
A technical examination is due to be carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and a stop/go system is in place on the road.
“Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward. Any road users who were on the N17 between the airport and Charlestown between 11:45am and 12:20pm and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.”
