TU Dublin opens applications for Certificate in Planning and Design for Active Travel

The Certificate in Planning and Design for Active Travel can be taken as a stand-alone Continuing Professional Development module or as an optional module on TU Dublin’s MSc in Sustainable Transport & Mobility.

The module is aimed at individuals who may be involved in the planning, design, implementation and evaluation of Active Travel infrastructure.

The six-week part-time postgraduate module is delivered on-campus on Fridays at the Bolton Street campus of TU Dublin and will include lectures, practicals, and site visits.

The course description outlines that the module is in “advanced theory, implementation, design, practical applications, and legislative and planning frameworks around Active Travel infrastructure.”

It adds: “The aim of this module is to allow students to develop the necessary skills to identify the most applicable approaches to design, appraisal and implementation of active travel infrastructure within a variety of urban and rural contexts. The module will introduce case studies and expose students to active evaluation of active travel projects. The module will demonstrate how Active Travel can play a central role in a sustainable mobility framework.”.

The deadline to apply is March 28th 2025. The course fee is €450, and teaching commences in May 2025.
