Man in his 60s killed yesterday evening in a collision involving car driver in Dublin

A man in his 60s was killed in a fatal road traffic collision on the R139 in Dublin 17 yesterday evening shortly after 8pm. It happened when the man was cycling, and it involved a car driver.

A spokesperson at the Garda Press Office said: “Emergency services and Gardaí responded to a collision involving a bicycle and a car shortly after 8pm. The cyclist, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.”

“A technical examination of the scene was carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and traffic diversions have since been lifted. The Coroner has been notified and the deceased has been transported to the Dublin City Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be arranged,” the spokesperson said.

They added: “Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. Road users who were in the area between 7:30pm and 8:15pm and may have camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, are asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.”
