Cork County Council kicks off consultation on West Cork and Cork to Kinsale greenways

Cork County Council has started public consultations on route selection for the West Cork Greenway and the Cork to Kinsale Greenway — in both cases using a wide study area.

The council said: “Study areas have been identified for both the Skibbereen sections of the West Cork Greenway and the Cork to Kinsale Greenway. Public consultations for both projects are now open for submissions.

The council said that all routes for the West Cork Greenway will originate in Skibbereen and connect to the communities of Baltimore, Schull and Drimoleague.

While for the Cork to Kinsale Greenway, it is “proposed to develop a suitable route creating connectivity between Cork City and Kinsale creating an active travel route between the two tourist destinations.”

Consultation events for the Cork to Kinsale route are to take place this Wednesday, February 7th at the Viaduct, Old Bandon Road from 2:00pm to 8:00pm, and this Thursday, February 8th, at Kinsale Library from 2:00pm to 8:00pm.

Simular in-person events took place last month for the West Cork Greenway.

Both projects have their dedicated websites — West Cork Greenway at wcgskibbereen.ie and the Cork to Kinsale Greenway at corkkinsalegreenway.ie.
