Man in his 50s knocked off bicycle, seriously injured in collision involving motorist

A man in his 50s was knocked off his ansa collision involving a motorist driving a car in Co Westmeath yesterday.

A spokesperson at the Garda Press Office said: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision on the Moat Road in Ballymore, Co Westmeath on Thursday, 27th June 2024.

The spokesperson said: “Shortly before 1.30pm, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a collision involving a car and a bicycle. The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was taken to Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore where he is currently receiving treatment for serious injuries. No other injuries were reported.”

Witnesses to the collision are asked to come forward and those with  camera footage who were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
