A former Copenhagen “bicycle mayor” and current head of the Danish cycling campaign, Klaus Bondam, is to give a talk at a one-day cycling conferenced in Belfast next week.
Bondam is now the director of the Danish Cyclists Federation and served as the Technical and Environmental Mayor in Copenhagen between 2006 and 2009, the main section of the city administration which covers cycling.
The aim of the event, next Thursday October 16, is to “harness” the North’s interest in cycling and “explore the possibilities to transform Northern Ireland into a modern, vibrant, healthy cycling culture.”
It is linked to the consultation process for the draft Bicycle Strategy for Northern Ireland and is being hosted by the Cycling Unit of the Northern Ireland’s Department for Regional Development.
The event will be opened by Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy. You can register here.
