A person cycling a bicycle was injured this morning at the junction of Queen Street and North King Street at the top of Smithfield.
It is unclear what happened in the incident and the status of the injuried person has yet to be confirmed.
Witnesses and a media report confirm that the bicycle was crushed by a recycling truck.
The junction forms one of the main cycle routes between the core city centre and Stoneybatter and Grangegorman, but is known as a dangerous spot by local cyclists. The main traffic flow on the one-way North King Street turns left onto Queen Street, while the main cycling flow goes right onto George’s Lane.
