Councillor who turned blind eye now acts on cycle lane parking

NEWS IN BRIEF: A councillor who was criticised for turning a blind eye to illegal parking in cycle lanes has said he has now acted on the issue.

Cork City councillor Cllr Joe Kavanagh (FG) said: “I have submitted a number of queries to City Hall in relation to Cars Parking in Cycle Lanes plus queries in relation to Road safety which is an ongoing concern and focus for me.”

He added: “May I take this opportunity to wish you all and your families a very happy 2019.”

The Cork Cycling Campaign, who were previously blocked by the councillor, has now been unblocked and they re-tweeted the councillor’s statement.
