VIDEO: A 1.8km greenway between Baldoyle and Portmarnock is nearly finished, although not officially open yet.
At under 2km, it’s short, but it allows people to avoid a busy rural-like road between the two areas.
The pedestrian and cycle paths run adjacent to the Coast Road (R106) from Red Arches Road to just south of the Coast Road /Station Road roundabout.
Twitter user and a user of the road by bicycle, Alan said: “It’s the most enjoyable cycle I’ve ever experienced between Baldoyle and Portmarnock. Still officially under construction, but finally people cycling have safe space away from motor traffic on this road.”

The route mainly includes a three-metre wide cycletrack and two-metre wide footpath separated by a 2.4-metre wide grass verge, with short sections of shared used paths at, before at after a bridge and road crossings.
