UPDATED: Draft plan also has what campaigners call “murder strips” cycle lanes situated between traffic lanes.
BREAKING: Draft images have emerged of the planned Clonskeagh cycle route which show that Ranelagh is to get lightly segregated cycle track and at section is to have car parking inside a cycle lane.
Dublin City Council and the National Transport Authority are developing the route, and councillors are to be briefed on the emerging preferred route on Monday.
Despite on-going illegal parking in Ranelagh as well as confusion over part-time cycle lanes, the new route plan seems to use National Transport Authority’s preferred stepped up cycle track design, which is viewed as medium or light segregation unsuitable for areas of high parking demand.
