NEWS IN BRIEF: Cork City Council is to fix 44 of the estimated 99 traffic lights in the city which cannot detect bicycles.
Cllr Dan Boyle (Green Party) said: “At this evening’s City Council meeting this motion of mine was given final consideration – That traffic signals be triggered by bicycles, particularly at key junctions close to cycle infrastructure. 44 traffic junctions are to have this facility installed.”
The Cork Cycling Campaign said: “More bicycle detection coming to traffic lights near you soon. Over 99 lights do not detect people on bicycles in Cork, so this will be a great help in making a dent in that number.”
