A teenager, who was cycling at the time, was seriously injured in a collision involving a driver of a truck yesterday during the evening rush hour in Tuam, Co Galway.
Kyle Stewart at the Garda Press Office said: “Gardaí attended the scene of a serious road traffic collision that occurred at Russellstown, Miltown, Tuam, Co. Galway, yesterday. At approximately 5:30pm yesterday evening, Monday 23rd May 2022, Gardaí were alerted to a road traffic collision involving a bicycle and a truck.”
He continued: “A male in his late teens (cyclist) was taken to University Hospital Galway to be treated for his injuries. He has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital where his condition is described as serious.”
The Garda Press Office said that road was closed to allow for a technical examination to be conducted by Forensic Collision Investigators. This has since concluded and the road has reopened.
