A woman in her 20s who was arrested as part of an investigation into a fatal road traffic collision in Co Kerry yesterday has been released and a file has been prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions, Gardaí said this evening.
Gardaí said yesterday that the woman was arrested in connection to the collision in which a cyclist, a man in his 60s, died after he was in a collision involving a motorist on the Killorglin to Cromane Road on Sunday morning.
The Garda Press Office said yesterday that the woman in her 20s was arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. The involvement of the woman in the incident was not clarified in press releases yesterday or today.
This evening, a spokesperson at Garda Press Office said: “The woman (20’s) arrested as part of an investigation into a fatal road traffic collision on the Killorglin to Cromane Road in Co. Kerry, on Sunday, 3rd September 2023, has been released.
“A file has been prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP)” and “Investigations are ongoing,” the spokesperson said.
Asked if the woman was the driver of the car or what involvement she had, a second spokesperson said: “As this is an ongoing investigation, no further information is available.”
