Man in his 30s hospitalised with serious injuries after collision in Castebar

A man in his 30s was hospitalised with serious injuries following a collision in Castlebar on Sunday night around 10pm.

The Garda Press Office said: “Gardaí are investigating a road traffic collision involving a bicycle that occurred in Springfield, Castlebar, Co. Mayo [on] Sunday 26th February 2023.”

A Garda spokesperson added: “The cyclist, a male in his 30s, was removed to Mayo University Hospital for treatment of his injuries, which are believed to be serious. Enquiries are ongoing.”

At least two local media reports outlined how the incident also involved a ‘motorist’ or ‘car’, but this could not be confirmed at the time of publication of this article and it is understood that Gardai believe that was a bicycle-only collision.
