Consultation for Marino filtered permeability and D4 traffic scheme close next week

Separate public consultation is open until next week for the filtered permeability at Haverty Road in Marino and for the one-way access for motorists at Belmont Avenue in Donnybrook.

The filtered permeability at Haverty Road trial started on Sunday, August 28, 2022, for a 6 month trial period. It is aimed at starting to address long-term rat running in Marino which has plagued the area. The consultation closes on March 7, 2023.

Meanwhile at Belmont Avenue scheme was implemented by the council after residents staged a “footpath protest” to stop the common practice on the street of motorists mounting the footpath to get around congestion.

According to the first public consultation report, the vast majority of respondents agreed that there is a safety issue on the street. A majority of residents on the street and overall respondents favoured filtered permeability. Councillors however opted for a one-way system and this was then implemented on the weekend of August 19-21, 2022. The consultation closes on March 8, 2023.
